Here are some of the most frequently asked questions:
Q: What type of window can the glass be replaced?
A:
Any window that was assembled using mechanical fasteners. Typically, a sash will be joined in the corners by screws or the glass will be held in place with glazing sticks. Nearly all aluminum windows and most vinyl windows were designed to allow for glass replacement. There are some very inexpensive vinyl windows that are "welded" in the corners that cannot be replaced without damaging the frame.
Q: Why shouldn't I replace the entire window unit?
A:
Most commercial windows are constructed using very sturdy aluminum components. 30 years after installation these frames are normally in good working condition. Modern advances in window construction such as thermal breaks will save you some on your energy costs but you will likely wait decades to see it compared to installing a new argon filled, Low- E insulated glass panel. With the exception of physical damage by fire or vandalism, glass replacement is almost always the better option. Call or email us to talk about your specific application.
Q: How long does it take to replace the glass?
A:
Usually window sashes can have the glass replaced in 15 min or less. Patio door units in 20 min. Most of the time we can replace the glass right in the occupied unit and not even move the furniture. Tennants will appreciate the care we take while in their home and maintenance supervisors will enjoy the positive feedback.
Q: Can you deliver the glass for us to install ourselves?
A:
Yes, we deliver glass in bulk to any location and can instruct you on how to do it yourself.
Q: What other types of glass can you provide?
A:
We can provide annealed or tempered units in any size. We can also provide laminated security glass and many different types of polycarbonate products.
Q: What do I need to know to order glass?
A:
Call, email, or fax us with the visible glass dimensions, type of frame, and quantity to get pricing.
To complete an order we will need to know the exact size and thickness.
